Metro-North conductor Michael Shaw apologizes to commuters after giving wrong scheduling information

MILFORD - A Metro-North conductor apologized to commuters Monday after he unknowingly gave out wrong information about scheduling.

Michael Shaw told passengers on Friday at the New Haven, West Haven, Milford and Stratford stations to wait for an express train to New York that later was canceled.

Shaw put 500 copies of his written apology on rail car seats Monday morning. He says he felt awful for delaying people a half-hour on their morning commute.

Metro-North sent a statement that reads in par, "Conductor Mike Shaw is one of the many Metro-North Railroad employees who care deeply about our customers, and his open letter expresses the same frustration that customers and employees alike feel about the railroad's recent challenges. While we share his concerns, we do not condone his methods of communicating them."
