Metro-North running 10 extra trains for Christmas Eve rush

Metro-North says trains are on a regular weekday schedule for Christmas Eve. They'll add an extra 10 trains on the New Haven Line.

NORWALK - The number of people driving to their holiday destination is expected to reach an all-time high between Dec. 24 and Jan. 3.

AAA estimates that close to 90 million people will travel more than 50 miles during the holiday. That's up nearly 1.5 percent from last year, and marks the seventh straight year of increases.

Metro-North ran on a regular weekday schedule for Christmas Eve.  It also added an extra 10 trains on the New Haven Line.

The railroad says it will run hourly service on Christmas Day.
