NORWALK - Metro-North began operating a new, reduced schedule this morning.

Metro-North says weather-related problems have forced it to cut service by about 10 percent during peak hours.

The cuts will be the topic of an emergency commuter meeting next week.

The Connecticut Rail Commuter Council called the meeting to investigate the winter-service crisis on the New Haven line.  It will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 16 in Stamford.

Council members say commuters, lawmakers, railroad and state Department of Transportation officials are all invited.

The schedule change is expected to stay in effect through March 6.
