STRATFORD - A man faced a judge today for allegedly hitting a woman with his car and fleeing the scene.
Police say Michael Hainsworth backed into Juana Hostos, 81, in March. They say Hainsworth, 28, stopped his car after the accident, went over to Hostos and then took off.
Hostos was hospitalized for a month with critical injuries. Her daughter says her mother now has memory loss as a result of the impact and will never walk again without a cane.

Authorities say surveillance video is disturbing evidence of the hit-and-run.
Hostos’ family says they are grateful that Stratford police finally arrested Hainsworth.
He is free on $1,500 bond.
