Michael Maida, math teacher at Convent of the Sacred Heart in Greenwich, accused in sexual assault
GREENWICH - Greenwich police say a teacher at a private school is facing charges for sexually assaulting a former student in 2009.
Michael Maida, a math teacher at Convent of the Sacred Heart, turned himself in Tuesday.
Police first started to investigate the claims about a month ago. Much hasn't been released about the investigation, in part because the arrest warrant remains sealed. News 12 Connecticut has learned that the student was under 16 years old.

School officials said in a statement that Maida has been placed on administrative leave. Maida has been on the faculty for 17 years. He taught math and coached softball.
His attorney says Maida denies the allegations.
