MILFORD - Businesses in Milford did all they could to help local high school students prepare for their junior prom on Sunday.

The Jonathan Law High School junior prom, originally scheduled for April, was postponed after a student was stabbed to death at school, allegedly by a classmate.

As News 12 previously reported, 16-year-old student Maren Sanchez was fatally stabbed on what would have been the day of the junior prom. Christopher Plaskon, 17, has been charged in the crime.

The Andre Phillips Salon, located in Milford, opened its doors Sunday to do about 30 students’ hair and makeup for the special event, free of charge.

A salon representative told News 12 that they were happy to help the students after they had been through so much in the past few months.

Autumn Rose Flower and Gift Shopped in Milford also supported students by providing them with corsages and boutonnieres at no charge.
