MILFORD - Milford firefighters reunited Tuesday with a healthy baby boy they helped deliver last week.

Fire officials say it's common to respond to maternity calls, but those calls rarely end with firefighters actually delivering a newborn.

Last Thursday evening, five Milford firefighters responded to a home on Meadow Street. When they came to the front door, the father told them the baby was on its way. Firefighters then delivered the baby in the family's bathroom.

One of the firefighters on the scene told News 12 Connecticut that this is something the department will be talking about for years to come.

The family told officials that they are not comfortable speaking on camera, but said the mother and newborn are back home and doing well.
