MILFORD - Owners of the Milford manufacturing plant that burned to the ground last week say the business has found temporary space and will be up and running by the end of the month.
Milford Fabricating is setting up shop in a warehouse at 500 Bic Drive. Ed Pohl, one of the owners of the business, says they spent Tuesday transporting equipment to the temporary space in order to ensure they are operating at 100 percent by the end of April.
Joe Connolly, the operations manager of the manufacturing plant, says it was a priority to secure a temporary space in order to keep all 97 workers employed.
?We secured the building on Thursday, signed the lease on Friday, had a crew of guys here on Saturday cleaning it up,? Connolly says. ?Machines will drop on Wednesday and we will probably be punching parts under our own steam ? by the 20th of this month.?
According to Pohl, a laser machine used for cutting metal sparked the gas tanks last Tuesday, causing the devastating fire. The plant on Erna Drive was completely leveled in the blaze.
