MILFORD - Milford police say they are working with Westfield Connecticut Post Mall management to keep shoppers safe on the roads this holiday season.
Police say the streets around the mall are especially congested at this time of year. They have designated busy intersections near the mall as "Don't Block the Box" intersections, and they are stepping up enforcement to make sure drivers keep them clear.
Police say drivers will see a grid pattern at the intersection of Cedarhurst Lane and Boston Post Road, which they say is also the main entrance to the mall. Police say there is another intersection marked like this on Boston Post Road and East Town Road, which is another entry point to the mall.
The grid pattern is supposed to bring people's attention to the fact that they are in the middle of an intersection.
Police say there will be other reminders to drivers not to block these intersections, including signs.
