MILFORD - Milford police unveiled a new campaign today aimed at ensuring the safety of shoppers, as well as cutting down on holiday traffic. Officials say they will hand out a $117 ticket to any motorist who stops in the middle of a crosswalk near the Westfield Connecticut Post Mall. They will be strictly monitoring a 1-mile stretch of Post Road, running north of the mall complex. Officer Jeffery Nielson says keeping the streets clear allows for better traffic conditions and fewer injuries. "People are stressed out," Nielson says. "They want to get their stuff done, and it raises tension levels in motorists." To further alleviate congestion, police are also asking drivers to use the East Town Road exit to access I-95.
