MILFORD - A Milford woman is planning a protest for this Saturday after her dog was sentenced to be put down by state officials.

Victoria Stillings says her golden retriever, "Buddy," has been locked up at Milford Animal Control at Silver Sands State Park since last month, when authorities took the animal.

Stillings says "Buddy" has been accused of lightly nipping two neighbors on the hand earlier this year, but says the alleged injuries were not the result of dog-on-human attacks.  She claims the neighbors were trying to break up a fight between her dog and another dog when the incident occurred.

Stillings says the order is on hold, pending her appeal with state officials, who could take more than six months to reach a decision.
