BETHANY - A local nonprofit proves that age and affliction aren't getting in the way of a group of men who are making history.
The Veterans' Rowing & Kayaking Program teaches blind veterans how to compete on the open water. They say they were the first national blind Veterans Administration rowing program. They practice in Bethany.
The nonprofit says the sport physically and emotionally helps people.
The organization started in Connecticut four years ago with just five members. Now it is helping more than 500 veterans in six states.
