STAMFORD - Bright Horizons day care in Stamford closed Thursday after a woman plowed her minivan through a classroom.

The woman told police she accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of the brake as she was pulling in to pick up her kids Wednesday afternoon.

Police say it was a freak accident and it happened just minutes after several children who were in the classroom that the woman plunged into had gone outside.

A manager of the day care says they've ordered a barrier to be put in between the parking lot and building.

No one was injured in the crash and the day care will be back open Friday.
