Missing Fairfield man was killed instantly

The family of a Fairfield man who disappeared in Peru says authorities told them he and a friend probably died immediately when their car crashed

FAIRFIELD - The family of a Fairfield man who disappeared in Peru says authorities told them he and a friend probably died immediately when their car crashed into a canyon.

Crews had been searching for Jose Tomayo, 79, and his friend after they disappeared Sept. 19.

Tomayo owned a business in Bridgeport.

His family says his body will be brought back to Connecticut for burial after services are held in Peru.
