MANCHESTER - The mother of the man who killed eight co-workers before turning the gun on himself at a Manchester beer distributor has given an interview about her son's actions, saying he is "no monster."

Omar Thornton's mother, Lilly Holliday, told CNN her son was so angry about the racism he claimed he encountered while working at Hartford Distributors that he finally snapped on Aug. 3.

Holliday said her son called her moments after shooting the people he considered to be the five most racist at his workplace.

Thornton's mother also said she misses and loves her son, calling him a "very good individual."
