BRIDGEPORT - Monday will mark the 25th anniversary of the L'Ambiance Plaza collapse in Bridgeport.
The collapse was the worst construction disaster in state history, killing 28 workers.
Senator Richard Blumenthal said today that while safety has improved, construction workers are still at risk.
Blumenthal, who surveyed the scene, points his finger at what he says is the ongoing failure of the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration to adopt safety measures in a timely fashion. According to Blumenthal, it takes OSHA eight years on average to issue new safety rules.
The 28 workers died when the 16-story residential project under construction came crashing down.
Blumenthal will preside over a special L'Ambiance memorial service in Bridgeport tomorrow.
