BRIDGEPORT - More than a dozen people are homeless after a fire destroyed their apartment building in Bridgeport last night.

It happened at a home on West Avenue near the intersection with Prospect Street.

Firefighters say they are fortunate the fire occurred before the residents were asleep.

The fire marshal is investigating the cause of the blaze.
