STAMFORD - Commuters say their morning trips to work went pretty smoothly, despite heavier traffic and Metro-North service changes.

Passengers arrived by bus in Stamford, where workers greeted them with advice on where to go next.

The roads were the biggest obstacle, as traffic worsened throughout the morning.

Connecticut transportation officials say this morning's commute went about as well as they could have hoped. They say traffic on I-95 and the Merritt Parkway was bad, but not a nightmare.

The New Haven line is expected to resume normal service in time for the Wednesday morning commute.
