Mother, daughter recovering after train strikes their car

MILFORD - A mother and her 7-year-old daughter are recovering after a Metro-North train collided with their car yesterday afternoon on a private road in Milford.

A train on the Waterbury line struck the car on Herbert Street, and witnesses say the car flipped over multiple times. The property owner where the crash happened says the tracks are dangerous in the area, and he always warns guests to be careful, as there are no crossing bars on the tracks. The Metropolitan Transit Authority says it's unlikely public funding will be spent to put crossing bars on a private road.

Officials say the two victims are in stable condition and are expected to fully recover.
