NEW YORK - (AP) - Drivers using the bridges and tunnels controlledby the MTA are going to have to dig deeper into their pockets topay the tolls.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority board on Wednesdayapproved a toll increase that would go into effect at the end ofthe year.

Drivers paying cash at crossings including the Queens Midtowntunnel and the Throgs Neck bridge would pay $6.50, up from $5.50.Drivers using E-ZPass would pay $4.80, up from $4.57.

The increase comes a couple of weeks after the MTA boardapproved fare hikes for the city's subways, buses and commuterrails.
