Murphy beats out McMahon in heated U.S. Senate race

HARTFORD - Democrat Chris Murphy is celebrating a big victory this morning after defeating Republican Linda McMahon to win the U.S. Senate seat vacated by Joe Lieberman.

Murphy celebrated in Hartford yesterday with Gov. Dannel Malloy and Sen. Richard Blumenthal. He told supporters he's happy he pulled out a win in the very heated race.

Meanwhile, McMahon spoke to a disappointed crowd last night in Stamford. She tells News 12 Connecticut she's happy with the campaign she ran and thanked her supporters. When asked if she'll run again, McMahon responded that she'll be around and stay involved.
