FAIRFIELD - Looking for a new ride this spring?
News 12 Connecticut’s Ted Koppy spoke with a Fairfield automotive writer about the latest in car trends.
Jim Motavalli, the automotive writer for the New York Times and Car Talk, lives in Fairfield and test-drives vehicles as part of his job. This week, Motavalli attended the New York International Auto Show, where he says that the American muscle car was hot once again.
After decades on ice, Motavalli says that American carmakers want drivers to have their cake and eat it too. He says modern muscle cars not only sound like the old ones, but they look like them too.
Motavalli says cars like the Mustang, Camaro and Dodge Charger are all iconic muscle cars in the U.S. that are getting modern updates to appeal to millennials.
He says the that high-powered throwbacks are a way for carmakers to generate some short-term buzz.
