DAYTONA BEACH - NASCAR is asking fans not to display the Confederate flag at its events.

A statement released today is asking fans to be welcoming to everyone.

NASCAR's chairman has called the flag a symbol he personally finds offensive and wants it barred from all events.

This weekend, Daytona International Speedway is scheduled to hold a flag exchange event where fans can turn in any flag for an American flag.
