STRATFORD - Authorities say an 18-year-old woman from Torrington is facing several charges after she made verbal threats against schools in Danbury and Stratford.

Police say Natalie Carpenter, who formerly lived in Stratford, was arrested on Tuesday at a group home in Torrington. Authorities also have an arrest warrant for a 19-year-old Torrington man who is in a secured medical facility.

Stratford's superintendent sent a letter home to parents Thursday saying Carpenter was already in custody by the time the district was notified.

It goes on to say that the "high schools elected not to notify parents since any potential threat or danger to students or staff had already been neutralized."

The school also says it increased security as a result of the threat.

The arrest warrant is sealed so police could not release which schools were mentioned in the threats.

Police say it could be several days before they make the second arrest.
