BRIDGEPORT - The National Weather Service confirms a tornado passed through southwestern Connecticut yesterday.

They say wind speeds may have hit 100 miles per hour as the tornado passed.

Damage to the region was extensive with trees down, homes damaged and thousands without power.

No one was seriously hurt in the storm.
