NORWALK - The man accused of breaking into a Norwalk home and pummeling a woman inside appeared in court for his arraignment Friday.
Prosecutors at Norwalk Superior Court say Nector Morrero has 20 prior convictions and five other pending cases. Police arrested him at the Honeyspot Inn in Stamford Thursday.
He allegedly burst into the home on Dec. 27, 2015 and beat up a woman inside. Investigators say a male friend fled the home during the intrusion.
Prosecutors described the victim's injuries as "significant." They say she lost consciousness after repeated blows to the head and face.
Police say the victim told them she was not in a relationship with Morrero, but that he was "just obsessed" with her.
Morrero faces charges of home invasion, burglary and assault.
A judge set cash-only bond at $125,000 with the provision that he remain under house arrest. His next court appearance is Monday.
