BRIDGEPORT - Neighbors today said they can't believe an accused cannibal killer was staying next door in Bridgeport.

Police say Tyree Smith murdered Angel Gonzalez, 43, with an ax and then ate parts of his body. Police documents show he confessed the murder to a relative and then that woman apparently told his mother, who tipped off police.

An arrest warrant shows Smith had been temporarily living with a cousin on Seaview Avenue.

Neighbors recently held a memorial service for the victim.
