NEW CANAAN - A Norwalk man appeared before a judge today on charges that he allegedly broke into several homes, stealing nearly $10,000 worth of goods.

According to police, Dominick Sciaretta, 23, hit several homes in New Canaan and one in Darien on Monday before being caught. They say he targeted unlocked homes during daytime hours.

Officials say Sciaretta stole artwork, jewelry, purses and electronics from the houses. He is facing several charges for burglary and larceny.
