NEW CANAAN - A New Canaan councilwoman remains in the intensive care unit after being hit by a pickup truck, while trying to cross the street.

The accident happened at Locust Avenue and Main Street Friday night.

Police say Kathleen Corbet was hit when the driver of a Dodge Ram tried to brake but slid on the wet road.

Corbet was taken to Norwalk Hospital for possible head injuries.

Police say the driver was ticketed for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
