NEW CANAAN - A New Canaan mentoring program is helping teen moms accomplish their dreams.

The nonprofit Young Lives is teaming up with Christian women to provide teen girls in crisis with encouragement, guidance and ongoing support.

Tanasia Ticking, of Norwalk, came to the program when she was 8 months pregnant. She says the program helped her thrive and graduate high school with honors.

Program mentors say that many teen moms in the community drop out of school and become homeless. The program gives the girls confidence, which leads to better decisions.
