NEW CANAAN - New Canaan police say they are investigating four attempted burglaries that appear to be linked.

Police say they first got a call Saturday night about an alarm going off on Old Norwalk Road. A half-hour later, another alarm went off on Ludlowe Road and again on Norholt Drive. Police report a final alarm went off on Carter Street.

Police say while an alarm is the best deterrent, there are other safety precautions residents can take to better protect themselves and valuables, including a new service for people going on vacation.  They say residents can call and register their homes and police will check on the homes periodically, based on the information given to them.
