New Canaan preps for nor'easter

NEW CANAAN - New Canaan's Highway Department is gearing up as a nor'easter packing potential snowfall heads towards the area.

Superintendent of Operations Mose Saccary is worried that area power outages will skyrocket due to heavy snow fall on tree branches, causing them to fall onto power lines. Saccary also says that the department's plows and salt trucks are ready if they're needed.

The town's budget for salt, according to Saccary, is based on an average of how much crews used the last five years, tossing out the highest and lowest years.
