NEW CANAAN - A New Canaan woman is facing charges in a fatal hit-and-run from earlier this year.

Krishna Jayaraman, 82, was hit and struck back in August near the Westchester border. Jayaraman's body was found on a roadside. He later died at Norwalk Hospital.

Police say they were able to identify suspect Kate Regan, 32, in the crash by pieces of her vehicle left behind at the scene.

Regan turned herself in yesterday, hours after a warrant was issued for her arrest.

Authorities do not believe Regan intentionally hit Jayarman.

Regan has been charged with evading responsibility and negligent homicide. She was released on $10,000 bond and is set to be in court Nov. 17.
