New Haven man injured in I-95 crash

State troopers say if the car had gone any further under the truck, he would not have survived. (3/8/14)

NEW HAVEN - A New Haven man suffered serious injuries after crashing into a parked tractor-trailer in Greenwich.

The crash happened on the shoulder of the northbound side of I-95 between exits 2 and 3 at around 4 a.m.

According to state police, Tavonn Jenkins crossed onto the shoulder, hit a patch of frozen snow and then crashed into the back of the trailer. Authorities say Jenkins was alert when crews arrived, but it took them more than an hour to cut him out of the car.
