BRIDGEPORT - Bridgeport school officials unveiled a new security system Thursday, which they say will help reduce bullying.

Columbus Elementary School on George Street is one of the 21 schools where high-definition cameras are being installed, thanks to a $1.3 million state grant.

David Antar, president of A-Plus Technology & Security, says the cameras have facial-recognition capabilities.

He says this system has helped to stop bullying in school districts across the nation.

School officials can monitor the video from school security headquarters, or from any device that links to the Internet.

The system also includes thermal-imaging cameras, which are used outside to see in the dark and in bad weather conditions.
