HAMDEN - The latest Quinnipiac University poll of likely voters shows the race for Christopher Dodd's U.S. Senate seat is getting tighter.

According to the poll, Democratic Senate candidate Richard Blumenthal has 49 percent of the vote compared to Republican Linda McMahon's 46 percent. Taking the margin of error into consideration, the two candidates are virtually even.

Sacred Heart University Professor Gary Rose says Linda McMahon has two things going for her. One is voter dissatisfaction with the status quo, and the second is money to bring that message to voters.

Rose says Blumenthal, the state's current attorney general, was complacent, not matching McMahon's negative ads and sitting on his lead.
