WILTON - The newly expanded portion of Route 7 in Wilton officially opened Thursday after more than three years of roadwork.

First Selectman Bill Brennan and other officials celebrated the opening with a ribbon cutting on the roadway. Town officials are hopeful the new stretch of road will help alleviate traffic and possibly even boost local business.

"It's like a Christmas present to Wilton and everyone else who uses the road," said Brennan.
