STAMFORD - Mayor Michael Pavia was sworn in Tuesday as the new mayor of Stamford, replacing Dan Malloy, who left office after serving for 14 years.
Pavia says he took the oath for the first time one minute after midnight to ensure there would be no gap in the handoff between mayors. The second ceremony was held at the Stamford Government Center.
Just minutes after being sworn in as mayor of the fourth largest city in Connecticut, Pavia conducted his first official item of business, swearing in other officials.
Pavia has already appointed interim directors to help with the transition process, but he is yet to announce his cabinet.
