New texting laws take effect

HARTFORD - A series of new state laws go into effect today, including tougher texting while driving rules.

Under the new law, distracted driving infractions will go on your driver's record.

The new law also raises the fine for people caught using a phone behind the wheel.

Also, you can now get a ticket for texting, even when your car is stopped at a red light or stop sign.
