Newtown educators given Citizen Honors Medals

NEWTOWN - Family members of the six teachers and staff members who were killed in the Sandy Hook school shooting were at Newtown High School for a Congressional Medal of Honor ceremony.

The women who died trying to protect their students were honored last night with the Citizen Honors Medal.

Dr. Janet Robinson, the former superintendent of schools in Newtown, said the teachers were worthy of the awards.

A Certificate of Commendation was awarded to all the surviving teachers and staff as well.
