NEWTOWN - A first-grade teacher from Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown has started a nonprofit aimed at helping children connect with each other.

Kaitlin Roig-DeBellis, 29, started Classes4Classes with the goal of teaching children how to be caring, compassionate and empathetic to others. The program uses a website to engage and educate children.

Roig-DeBellis says she wants Classes4Classes to become a global movement to help students learn the importance of kindness.

She is currently on sabbatical and will resume teaching Sandy Hook students next year.
