WILTON - Wilton voters rejected a measure that would have allowed beer and malt liquor to be sold at supermarkets.

Four years ago, Wilton voters approved the sale of alcohol in restaurants, and just two years ago they voted in favor of allowing liquor stores to open for business.

In a close vote, residents voted down the ballot initiative 1,525 to 1,153.
