NORWALK - Several Norwalk businesses have started a petition to get a public restroom built near the city's main bus station on Burnell Boulevard.

A total of 21 businesses so far have signed the petition. The area is currently under construction, but the Norwalk Transit Authority administrator says restrooms are not in the plans because of a lack of property to build on.

The owner of Hot Dogs Plus, Sayeed Hassan, says he tries to let people who aren't patronizing his store use his restroom, but says it can be too many people sometimes.

Hassan says the bus riders need a place to relieve themselves besides by the bushes or dumpster near his store entrance.
