NORWALK - Norwalk firefighters have established a permanent fund to help people displaced by a fire.

The fund comes after a gas explosion destroyed a home on Ohio Avenue Extension just two days before Christmas.

In that case, the community came together to donate gifts and money to help the Wulffleff family get back on their feet.

Firefighters say they want to be able to do that for every family in the same situation.

The fund got its first donations from state Sen. Bob Duff and AT&T.

They hope to keep a balance of about $5,000 in the fund at all times.
