NORWALK - A Norwalk gas station store clerk died Monday after he was shot by armed robbers over the weekend.

Investigators say the shooting occurred at around 2 a.m. Saturday at a Shell station on East Avenue. Police say two men entered the station and demanded money from the clerk, Jose Joaquin Morales, of Stamford, before shooting him in the head.

Police say they are reviewing surveillance video, speaking to witnesses and following several leads. They say they don?t believe the clerk was targeted.

The gas station owner says Morales came to the U.S. from Guatemala.
