Norwalk girl raises money for friend with leukemia

NORWALK - A 7-year-old girl in Norwalk is asking for others to help her raise money for a friend with leukemia that needs a bone marrow transplant.

Over the past month, Alyssa Buffone has dedicated her time to making beaded bracelets and selling them for $2 each to help her friend, Sebastian Hernandez, who was diagnosed with leukemia last year.

Alyssa says she has raised more than $1,000 for him.

The money she raised will help offset the cost of the donor drive that will be held this Sunday at St. Thomas the Apostle in Norwalk. Organizers say the effort is to try to find a match for Sebastian and thousands of other people in need of bone marrow transplants.
