Norwalk green lights mega-hotel in SoNo

NORWALK - City developers have green lit a new hotel for the SoNo section of Norwalk.

All zoning approvals for an eight-story hotel went through at a city council meeting Wednesday. The 120-room hotel will be built on South Main Street.

Local shop owners hope the hotel helps turn SoNo into the next Connecticut hub for entertainment.

"Like a Newport, like a Mystic, we'd like to be right on that list of places people would like to come and visit ? the sooner the better," says Monique Govil, of Taste of Holland.

The hotel is estimated to host 40,000 guests per year, generating at least $1 million for the city.
