NORWALK - The Norwalk Police Department honored the lives of fallen and deceased officers today at a memorial ceremony at police headquarters.

The deputy chief says no officers from any police department in Connecticut lost their lives while on duty in 2009, but the ceremony honored four police officers killed on the job in the past.

Also recognized were five retired officers who passed away during the last year.

Those in attendance say it's important to honor local heroes and their role in protecting residents.
