NORWALK - One man is in the hospital after authorities say he tried to escape from the Norwalk police department.

Officers say Jester Gabriel-Lopez, 20, tried to climb the steel bars in a holding cell after he was arrested yesterday.

They say he tried to break through the ceiling but lost his footing and hit his head on the floor.

He was taken to Norwalk Hospital.
