Norwalk junkyard fire blocks school bus routes

NORWALK - Emergency crews blocked school bus routes in Norwalk today while responding to a fire at Lajoie's Scrap Metal and Recycling, creating some tense moments for students who were instructed to walk home.

High school students who talked to News 12 Connecticut say police officers instructed them to walk several blocks home since the route was blocked. The students say they were frightened and had no idea where the thick black smoke was coming from.

Some of the students say their families have complained about emergencies at the facility in the past.Fire at Norwalk junkyard sets off explosions
